EVENING Class will Break for Ramadan Starting February 18!
Our English Classes
Our men’s and women’s ESL classes meet two days each week, for two hours each time. We have a morning class and an evening class at two different locations. Morning class is hosted by New City Fellowship Church downtown, and evening class is at Sunshine Ballpark near Wegmans. If our classes don’t work for you, scroll down for a list of other ESL classes in the area.
Registration is closed during November and December. Come register in January for Spring class! Spring morning class will run from January until May 2027, including during Ramadan. Spring evening class will start in March, after Ramadan, and run till May 2027. Spring evening registration will still be in January, so that evening class can start quickly after Ramadan. Registration information is below.
Registration for both morning class at New City Fellowship Church downtown and evening class at Sunshine Ballpark has finished. This means that you are now a late registrant. Registering late takes a long time. (This is because when you register, we test you to see what level of class is good for you. But now, all our teachers are busy teaching! So you will have to wait a long time, until someone is ready to test you.) You will also pay $10 extra. This is because we might have to special-order your book. To special-order, we pay extra money for postage.
REGISTRATION
We are opening a second class, in the evenings, at a different location! See below for details about how to register for the morning or the evening class. You must come in-person to register.
MORNING CLASS REGISTRATION
Morning class registration will be at 10am on January 5, 6, and 7. You can choose which day to come register — except those needing childcare, who should come January 5 before it fills. Like morning class, registration is at New City Fellowship Church. The address is 200 Prince Edward Street, Fredericksburg, VA, 22401. See below to know where to park at New City Fellowship Church. Morning class is on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10am.
EVENING CLASS REGISTRATION
Evening class registration dates will be announced in mid-November, so check back here soon for the dates. Evening class is at Sunshine Ballpark near Bragg Hill. The address is 1200 Wicklow Drive, Fredericksburg, VA, 22401. For men and advanced women, evening class is on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6pm. For most women, it’s on Mondays and Thursdays at 6pm. There is no childcare at evening class!
Don’t miss registration! If you do, we will not accept you if your class becomes full. Even if we do accept you late, registering late takes a long time. (This is because when you register, we test you to see what level of class is good for you. But when class has already begun each September and each January, all our teachers are busy teaching. So late registrants have to wait a long time, until someone is ready to test them.) We also charge a late fee. This is because we might have to special-order your book. To special-order, we pay extra money for postage.
COST
The cost (fees) for a semester is $50. If you don’t have $50, come talk to us anyway about your situation. Sometimes we waive the fees, if a student needs it. Our teachers are volunteers serving because of the love of God, so you are paying for your curriculum (books), not your teacher. We can accept cash only. After registration has finished, students coming to register late (even on the first day of class) will be charged a late fee.

CHILDCARE
We have volunteers to watch small children at the morning class only. But childcare fills very quickly! This happens every January and every August. So students with children should come register on the first day of registration, January 5. After that, childcare will fill again until the summer of 2027.
We do not have childcare at the evening class. You may not bring any children to evening class.
DETAILS
For the comfort of our students, our classes are separated by gender.
We have many different levels at our morning class (10 levels for women and 2 for men). Our evening class is smaller. This means that students with a wider variety of abilities need to study together in the evening.
We are a Christian organization, so we include a story each day from the Holy Bible (Taurat, Zabur or Injil-e Sharif) in our classes. Most are stories Catholics and Muslims usually already know. Many are told in both the Holy Bible and Qur’an.
While we welcome students from all linguistic backgrounds, historically more than 90% of our students have spoken Dari or Pashto.
PARKING at NEW CITY FELLOWSHIP: Our morning classes meet at New City Fellowship Church, near Hazel Hill housing downtown. The address is 200 Prince Edward Street, Fredericksburg, VA, 22401. Don’t park on the street; the police might give you a ticket! The parking lot is behind the church building. One entrance is on Dunmore Street/ Gunnery Road near the Head Start preschool (Walker-Grant Center). To enter the parking lot, drive west on Dunmore Street (toward the Walker-Grant Center and preschool) to the intersection of Dunmore Street and Ferdinand Street. Look for the open yellow gate on your right side. At the gate, turn right into the parking lot. For details, visit our parking page.
