Our English Classes
Our men’s and women’s ESL classes meet two days each week, for two hours each time. We have a morning class and an evening class at two different locations. Morning class is hosted by New City Fellowship Church downtown. Evening class is at Sunshine Ballpark near Wegmans. If our classes don’t work for you, scroll down for a list of other ESL classes in the area.
Registration for both morning class at New City Fellowship Church downtown and evening class at Sunshine Ballpark has finished. This means that you are now a late registrant. Registering late takes a long time. (This is because when you register, we test you to see what level of class is good for you. But now, all our teachers are busy teaching! So you will have to wait a long time, until someone is ready to test you.) You will also pay $10 extra. This is because we might have to special-order your book. To special-order, we pay extra money for postage.

We are opening a second class, in the evenings, at a different location! See below for details about how to register for the morning or the evening class. You must come in-person to register.
MORNING CLASS
Morning class meets at New City Fellowship Church. The address is 200 Prince Edward Street, Fredericksburg, VA, 22401. See below to know where to park at New City Fellowship Church. Morning class is on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10am.
EVENING CLASS
Evening class is at Sunshine Ballpark near Bragg Hill. The address is 1200 Wicklow Drive, Fredericksburg, VA, 22401. For men, evening class is on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6pm. For women, it’s on Mondays and Thursdays at 6pm.
COST
The cost (fees) for a semester is $50. If you don’t have $50, come talk to us anyway about your situation. Sometimes we waive the fees, if a student needs it. Our teachers are volunteers serving because of the love of God, so you are paying for your curriculum (books), not your teacher. We can accept cash only.

CHILDCARE
We have volunteers to watch small children at the morning class only. But childcare fills very quickly! This happens every January and every August. Now that childcare is full for 2026, new students with small children will have to wait till January 2027. When January comes, students with children should come on the first day of registration. After that, childcare will fill again until the summer of 2027. We do not have the January 2027 registration dates scheduled yet, to know when the first one is. Check this website for those dates when they’re finalized.
We do not have childcare at the evening class. You may not bring any children to evening class.
DETAILS
For the comfort of our students, our classes are separated by gender.
We have many different levels at our morning class (10 levels for women and 2 for men). But our evening class is smaller. This means that students with a wider variety of abilities need to study together in the evening.
We are a Christian organization, so we include a story each day from the Holy Bible (Taurat, Zabur or Injil-e Sharif) in our classes. Most are stories Catholics and Muslims usually already know. Many are told in both the Holy Bible and Qur’an.
While we welcome students from all linguistic backgrounds, historically more than 90% of our students have spoken Dari or Pashto.
PARKING at NEW CITY FELLOWSHIP: Our morning classes meet at New City Fellowship Church, near Hazel Hill housing downtown. The address is 200 Prince Edward Street, Fredericksburg, VA, 22401. Don’t park on the street; the police might give you a ticket! The parking lot is behind the church building. One entrance is on Dunmore Street/ Gunnery Road near the Head Start preschool (Walker-Grant Center). To enter the parking lot, drive west on Dunmore Street (toward the Walker-Grant Center and preschool) to the intersection of Dunmore Street and Ferdinand Street.
